Based on ACTIVE Safety Culture and Leadership Framework

If you are looking for a practical learning framework to enhance your organization's safety culture or develop your own or your team's safety leadership skills, this eBook is for you.

An Ontological Approach to Safety

Ontology is the philosophical study of the nature of being. The word ontology comes from two Greek words: Ontos, which means “being,” and Logia, which means “study”. The “ACTIVE Safety Culture” is based on the ontological learning principles and offers a practice-based framework to lead safety as one’s way of being. This framework does not focus on the technical processes or teach “about safety”, rather it helps develop the habits to remain resilient and develop the habits of effective safety leaders. By using the models presented in this program, you will be able to generate an elevated level of self-awareness and the power to create a positive safety culture in your organization.

What the Safety Experts are Saying About our Approach?

“Having taken this program together with my team members, I found it to be a clear, concise set of communication parameters and skills, which we can use every day. The webinars led by Dan were both easy to follow for my staff, who are non-native English speakers as well as deep reaching in terms of engagement. What I really enjoyed about the pace of the course is the fact that, together with my team, we were able to discuss the topics, review them together and provide explanations as needed and, most importantly, we had time to practice what we learned. The time in between the lessons was enough for us to apply the principles, get some practice, which helps to embed the concepts and processes. Despite many years of working in the aviation industry, this course was a perfect reminder for the many, sometimes obvious things in life, which we learn and then put off to the side. Thanks Dan and Jinobi for your excellent support.”

Maurizio Anichini, Vice Chairman - IGOM Task Force, International Air Transport Association (IATA)

Maxime Wauters, Safety Manager, ASL Private Jet Services, Belgium

“I found the course very interesting and constructive in general. I learned a lot of new things (or sometimes not new, but with a different approach and interpretation). I am already trying to apply some of these concepts into my daily functions and tasks.”

Nick Hawke, International Pilot and Trainer, South Africa

“Thank you to all involved in putting this course together. I have learnt a lot and look forward to using what I learnt in my new aviation career. There was a lot of good information shared and I look forward to seeing how I can implement it in my life.”

Michael Game, Section Chief, C Series System Safety, Bombardier Aerospace, Canada

“I found the course very interesting. I hope to apply some of the lessons learned to my day to day management of my team, especially in how I communicate to them. I also hope to develop some strategies and vision that are currently missing.”

Mike Harris, Manager – Engineering Services, Jetstar Airways, Australia

“I am somewhat smitten with the principles learned in this course, and espouse them to others whenever I can. I now have the additional knowledge to assist me in making decisions, forming opinions and planning conversations.”
